Summer Camp...with a Challenge

What is SITE?

The University of Alabama College of Engineering will host the SITE (Student Introduction to Engineering) summer program for rising high-school juniors and seniors who are interested in science, mathematics and engineering.

5 nights of fun

The first week long residential program is the second week in July, to be followed by a second session the third week of July. About 40 students are selected to participate in each session.

You won't roast marshmallows at this camp. As a SITE student, you'll live in a residence hall, engage in teaming exercises and tour an industrial plant to see engineers at work. You'll challenge your mind with math, engineering, computer science and English courses.

13 balsa airplane launchers constructed- You'll team with other ambitious students in a design competition sure to test your skills.

The $500.00 SITE fee includes:
  • industrial plant tour
  • hands-on laboratory demonstrations
  • classroom sessions with UA engineering faculty
  • expert advice on applying to college, including seminars on admission requirements, financial aid and housing
  • residence hall accommodations for five nights
  • meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner)
  • supplies
  • SITE T-shirt
  • opening and closing banquets for students and parents
