Up to 20 students from surrounding state high schools will gain hands-on experience in journalism and other communication fields during the 8th annual summer workshop hosed by Auburn University's Department of Communication and Journalism.
The workshop will take place June 20-25 at AU and is FREE to selected participants. Student will have the opportunity to compete for 6 $1000.00 scholarships to AU.
For one week, participants will become print reporters, editors and designers, who are ready for any assignment that might arise in a high school environment. Not only will they learn how to report and edit the news, they will understand and appreciated the passion journalists have for their work. The participant will spend the week learning about the media from professional journalists and from AU faculty.
Who is Selected:
You must currently be a freshman, sophomore or junior
Recruiting minority students is emphasized, but students of any ethnicity may apply.
Up to 20 students will be selected through a competitive application process.
The application deadline is April 30, 2010, and student selections will be announced by May 15, 2010.
